iOS 10: New hidden features

Apple introduced iOS 10 speech WWDC 16 with a bunch of new features for end users and developers. Among the big announcements, there are some small, but useful functions, which Apple has not announced.

Here is a list of new features and changes in iOS 10, which we found at the moment:

Battery Saving Mode

When you put your iPhone face down on the table, it automatically turns off the display to save power. This is done through the use of ambient light and proximity sensors. These and other improvements will help to extend the battery life of more than one hour. In iOS 10 low power consumption mode, which was shown during and Sports Keynote, able to extend the battery life of three hours. Power Save Mode maintains the charge, limiting the network activity and performance; also manually select that limit email, disable background applications, updates, and downloads, brightness, and a reduction in network speed. This mode can be enabled with the new Battery menu in Settings.

iCloud Drive app

As previously reported, of iOS 10 includes a new application ICloud Drive, which gives you access to files stored on your ICloud Drive. By default it is hidden, but you can enable it in Settings (Settings> iCloud> iCloud Drive> On the "Home" screen).

Find in Settings


Apple has finally added the ability to search in the application "Settings", you can now quickly find the setting rather than in a manual search in the different screens to get to the settings you want to change.

Shift key


Finally, it became easier to understand if Shift is enabled, you are typing in uppercase or lowercase. In iOS 10, small letters are displayed when Shift is disabled, and displays uppercase letters when it is turned on. Before iOS 10, we were always seen only lower-case letters, even though Shift is enabled or not.

Scrubber in Photos app


Appendix Pictures received Scrubber, with which you can get quick access to the photo. At the bottom of the screen and the toolbar has the photos of the thumbnail for easy navigation through your photos. This allows you to quickly scroll through the photos in the folder with the photos.

Back to search / Back to application


When you use the Spotlight, when you run the application from the search, and now you have the "Back to search" button in the status bar that lets you return to the Spotlight. It is quite convenient as it saves time, it is not necessary each time to press the Home button, and invoke Spotlight again.

Similarly, when you change the notification (eg new message), you have the button "Back to application" that allows you to return to the previous application.

Add an attachment to the Mail app


Finally, it became possible to add attachments from iCloud Drive. When composing a message, press and hold in the body, you get the opportunity to insert a photo or video.

Revised application Switcher

Apple re-processed Switcher application. Now it has the effect of Coverflow. Apple also got rid of the "recent and favorite contacts" Switcher from applications that were not very popular with most users.


Also, the application has been redesigned for the iPad. Here is the Switcher app on the iPhone.

Recycled Siri


Siri has been updated. Now it looks like Siri on the Apple Watch.

Side switch


In iOS 10 for the iPhone back the ability to use the side switch to lock the screen, or turn off the sound. This option has been available on iPad.

Password to the unit now consists of 6 instead of 4 digits


When you try to set a new password, of iOS 10 will offer you to use the 6-digit password, instead of four, to make your password more secure. You do not need to necessarily change your password on the 6-digit code, but if you try to change it, you'll need to use the 6-digit access code.

Select multiple photos


There is an easier way to select multiple photos in the Photos app. After clicking on Select in the photo album, you can just slide your finger on the photos to select multiple photos. In iOS 9, to select multiple photos, you need to select each photo individually.

The new font


As expected in iOS 10, Apple has replaced the font Helvetica Nue on the font Apple Watch 'San Francisco'.

Grouping apps notifications


You can copy the "Notice on applications" in the center of notifications. There is a new switch in the Settings app, which allows you to group notifications applications (Settings> Notifications> Group by applications).

Hide multiple photos


Now it is much easier to hide some photos in iOS 10. In iOS 9, you can hide the picture, press and hold it, and then click "Hide". If you want to hide a few photos, you have to hide them one by one, which is quite inconvenient. In iOS 10, option to hide the photos now available in the menu "Share". Thus, you can hide multiple photos at once.

Application cards


When you click on the search bar, you can quickly see what places are near you.

A new option of automatic block system

A new version of the auto-lock on the iPhone or iPad - 30 seconds (Settings> General> Auto-Lock).

Disable vibration on the iPhone


Now you can completely disable the vibration on the iPhone, thanks to the new setting of universal access. But it will also disable vibration during an earthquake, tsunami and other emergency alerts.

Saving attachments from e-mail

You can press and hold on the attachment in the email application to keep it in iCloud Drive.

Email updates of the app allows you to attach to the letter of 5 photos at a time

Finally, the letter more than 5 photos can be attached to an e-mail at the same time.

Swipe down from the photo to return

Now you can hold down the photo to return to the album. This is more convenient than to press the reset button "<".

Support for Mail Drop

iOS 10 has been supported Mail Drop for iPhone and IPad. Mail Drop lets you send large attachments up to 5GB via ICloud.

For details on using the battery


The statistics about the use of batteries can now be found in Settings> Battery instead to Settings> General> Statistics> Battery use. Using the battery has a new hidden feature. By clicking on the icon Detail view is displayed on the screen during operation and while working in the background for each application or process. It can be useful to determine which application spends most battery power.

Battery Widget

iOS 10 comes with a new battery widget. It is only available when pairing iPhone or iPad with the Apple Watch.

Sensor

iOS 10 has new touch screen sensitivity settings for iPhone or iPad keyboard. Settings> General> Accessibility> Adaptation touch

New features for reading mode in Safari

In Safari, you now have the ability to change font size, font and background.

Editing attachments

You can edit attachments directly in the Mail app. You can use the drawing tool, draw shapes, enhance, highlight, add text and even a signature.

Add a home address, work address and any elected address in Maps app

You can now add your home address, work address and any elected directly address in Maps app when building route.

Quick access to the Wallet from the lock screen

You can double-click the Touch ID to access the wallet directly from the lock screen. If you're worried about security, you can disable access to the Wallet app from the lock screen, go to Settings (Settings> Touch ID & password> Wallet).

Keyboard as the trackpad on the iPad

You can control the cursor on your iPad, simply by moving two fingers on the keyboard to select and edit the text.

Disable "Shake to undo"


Now you can disable "shake to undo". If you often call this function by accident, you can turn it off in Settings> General> Universal Access> "Shake to undo"

Whatsapp Button works on Mobile Device only

Start typing and press Enter to search
